6 Tips For Choosing a Venue

One of the most difficult decisions in planning your wedding is choosing the venue. You’re likely to have many choices, all with gorgeous features. I’ve put together 6 tips to guide you through this big decision.

1. Visit venues in person

Being at the venue in person can allow you to truly envision your wedding in the space. Typically, the photos that are posted on the venue’s website are professionally taken and styled. Pictures speak a million words but nothing can beat touring the venue in person.

2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions

Most venues have an event management team who will be able to answer any questions you may have no matter how small. Each wedding is unique so ensuring the venue can accommodate your event is essential.

3. Organize

Print out a photo of each of the venues and take notes on each if there is significant information that is not included somewhere on the document. I love the physical aspect of having things printed on paper. If the venue manager sent you any information via email about the venue pricing, capacity, catering, etc. write it down next to the photo. Writing some key descriptors or things you liked or disliked about the venue on the page can also help you recall the key feature of the space. This will allow you to group the venues and rank them based on categories that are important to you and your fiancé.

4. Communicate with your fiancé

Sit down with your fiancé when you are ranking the venues to make sure their opinion aligns with yours. Make sure to keep an open mind in case their number one venue is not the same as yours. This is probably one of the first wedding decisions you will be making together so starting off with good communication is key.

5. If you’re struggling..

If there is a venue that is sticking out to you, go with it. When making decisions for your wedding day you have to have confidence. If you are having trouble making a decision, consider factors such as the staff at the venue, what would be the best experience for your guests, and if the venue offers any services that could save you money down the road. If you have booked any other vendors ask them for advice. Odds are they’ve worked there a time or two and know what option would fit you best.

6. Book it and don’t look back.

When you’ve come to a decision, reserve the venue! After you’ve done so forget all the other options you had. You don’t want to spend any energy on those “what ifs”. No matter what venue you choose your wedding day will be magical!
