There Is No Such Thing As A Perfect Wedding Budget
Have you seen these “wedding budget pie charts” floating around the internet telling you how much you should be spending on each part of your wedding? Well, I’m here to tell you it’s (mostly) BS.
I know I say this a lot but one of the most common (this time I really mean most common) questions I get from couples is “What should my budget be for flowers?” or “How much does catering cost?” This is by far the most loaded question you could ask your wedding planner - no shade, I get it. There are so many things that will affect your budget for each category. For example, if you have more guests catering and florals are going to cost more because there are more mouths to feed and more tables to decorate. The type of food you want and how it is served will also affect the cost of catering. See where I’m going with this? The best way to truly know how much a certain line item of your wedding is going to cost is to go out and get a quote. Wedding pros can give you a rough estimate, but at the end of the day, there are so many factors that play into how wedding services are priced it’s hard to give an accurate figure. Weddings can be as pricey or as inexpensive as you would like. At the end of the day, all you need is you, your fiance, a marriage license and someone to marry you. (S/O to The Put a Ring on It Podcast for putting that little tidbit so eloquently - if you are a bride seeking planning advice this podcast is a great resource.) Since there is so much that goes into pricing out each service you book for your wedding these wedding planning pie charts cannot and are not accurate for each and every bride. Each couple will have different priorities, guest counts, and vision in mind hence affecting each line item on their wedding budget.
