A Peek into my Process: What I Do as a Wedding Planner

After about 5 years in the wedding industry, I’ve learned there are certain parts of being a wedding planner that clients and friends are always curious about. Especially when it comes to the day-to-day of being a planner. I’ll outline some of the most interesting part of my process to help you see if we could be a great fit (and it’s fun to talk about my career!)

As a wedding planner, I help couples from all over the country plan and execute their Charleston, SC area weddings. I help my clients with everything from finding amazing vendors to choosing their table linens. Couples hire me to help them navigate the hundreds of decisions they’ll be making throughout the planning process. I’m their advocate, teammate and advisor. I’m their confidant when things get tough and I’m there with the champagne when it’s time to celebrate. When I’m working with my clients, we collaborate together with their vendor team to create a custom, thoughtful celebration. I help put their decisions into action and make sure their plans happen accordingly. My planning process can be broken down into two main sections: the design process and the logistics process.

The logistics process is the first set of tasks we’re accomplish together. The logistical tasks include what we need to have into order to make a wedding happen (a venue, an officiant, transportation, catering, where your guests will stay, rentals, etc.) It’s important to make sure you are allocating the appropriate amount of funds to these things before starting the design process aka the pretty stuff aka aka the optional things that make it unique and one of a kind.

The design process is arguably the more exciting part of the planning process. We’ll create your custom wedding design and put it on paper in a design board. We’ll take it to your design-based vendors such as your florist, rental company (yes, rentals can be both design and logistically based), and stationer for them to bring it to life. Like many of my brides, the design process if my favorite. I geek out picking out flatware, weird I know. Not to toot my own horn, but I am skilled in visualizing how things will look IRL! It’s one of my strong suits and allows me to create killer designs.

Speaking of visualization, making sure a floral mockup is included in your proposal is not only wise but arguably imperative to ensuring you are getting exactly what you are envisioning. There’s always room for interpretation when designing a wedding.

I love the nitty gritty admin work most people hate and I also can get lost in a design for hours making sure it perfectly represents my couples. When it’s all said and done, it’s my goal to make sure my clients have a memorable and enjoyable engagement AND wedding day! Planning can be daunting and intimidating. Hiring a planner can take the guesswork out of planning such a large event such as a wedding. If you are looking for someone to help make planning your wedding a breeze, I’m your girl.
